SDDC Spring Specialty Show
This was the Spring Specialty Show, hosted by the San Diego Dachshund Club. It was located at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center in San Diego, California. It was from 6am - 5pm. The club served a complimentary breakfast before judging started. By noon time there was a pot luck lunch. It turned out to be a beautiful day. Unfortunately, I was having severe camera difficulties, which caused me to not be able to capture photos of the whole show. I have had my camera exchanged since then, so hopefully this wont happen again. I apologize for what happened, but I hope you all still enjoy the photos that are up. Take Care everyone.

DACHSHUND FUN MATCH
The April meeting of the San Diego Dachshund Club featured a dachshund fun match with the same format as a full-fledged dog show. Dachshunds of all kinds and ages came out this day. This match gave members a chance to show off their precious dachshund for a very nominal fee. The judge is a noted handler, Mark Stephenson, who is also a member of the San Diego Dachshund Club. The winners of the fun match were:
~Hermione who is owned and shown by (child) Aurora Danel. Hermoine won Best of Variety, Long.
~Angel who is owned by Tammie Gilbert and was shown by Susan Buck. Angel won Best of Variety, Smooth.
~Artichoke Puppy #2, owned by Bill and Susan Buck and was shown by Bill Buck. Artichoke Puppy #2 won Best of Variety, Wire *and* Best of Match.
Overall, the fun match turned out great and it was quite a delight to see all the darling doxies strut their stuff.
*I apologize in advance if I mixed up or misspelled anyone's dachshund's name, and feel free to private message me so I may make corrections, or if you want to change the title of a photo in which your dachshund is in. In addition, if you have a picture of a dachshund, which you know the name of, or of any appropriate picture that is not up, you may e-mail it to me if you would like it posted on this entry and I will get the picture up as soon as possible, as well. my e-mail = Pna1Dra6on@asianavenue.com

The San Diego Dachshund Club cordially invited everyone to attend their first annual spring event, the Vernal Equidox.
Itâ??s springtime when the swallows come back to San Juan Capistrano and the Dachshunds come back to Balboa Park. The event was from noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 4, 2004
Many gathered at the giant tree behind the Natural History Museum. One was allowed to bring a lunch and have a picnic. Fellow dachshunds and their owners wandered through the park, meeting and greeting other Dachshunds and their humans and entertaining the park visitors.
Towards the ending of the day those who could make it walked to the organ pavillon to listen to some wonderful organ music played by the truly talented Carol Williams. She even was so kind as to play a special piece "The Age of Wienarius" by: R. Petrozello for the San Diego Dachshund Club. It turned out to be a wonderful day and I want to thank all those who allowed me to capture the great photos that I had taken.

*Thanks Richard Ford for sending the photos you took of the event. They are great additions to this entry.

Meet the Breed Exhibit
The San Diego Dachshund Club, in an effort to educate the public about their wonderful breed, participates each year in the Silver Bay Kennel Club's MEET THE BREED Booth event. This is held during Silver Bay's Winter Show at the Del Mar Fair Grounds. The booth committee begins planning months in advance knowing that many people will be introduced to the Dachshund for the first time at the booth. Dachshunds of both sizes, standards and miniature, are shown at the booth. There is also a Dachshund of each coat variety (longhair, smooth, and wirehair) so prospective owners can learn about their characteristics.

Walkin' in a Wiener-Wonderland
Join the SDDC a few days before Christmas each year for their annual Walkin' In a Wiener Wonderland. This is a welcome break in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season where all can simply stroll with their dachshun along the Prado in Balboa park. As the club wanders with other Dachshund folks, they stop in at the San Diego Christmas Carol Concert at the Organ Pavillon and join in singing a few favorite holiday songs. Even the dachshunds join the chorus with their harmonic singing voices. Holiday attire is welcome, but not necessarsy.

Hallo-Wiener Picnic
The San Diego Dachshund Club's Hallo-Wiener Picnic, held in Balboa Park the Sunday before Halloween each year, is an event you don't want to miss. There are many dachshunds that are dressed in holiday attire, and in the past several hundred individuals have came out to join the club's event. Even though San Diego fires were blazing in 2003, there was still an incredible turn out. So, look forward to next year's festivity.
